We are currently seeking a Specialist Intervention Worker to play a vital role in our Domestic Abuse Services across London.


Your Role: What Will You Be Doing?

As a Specialist Intervention Worker, you will provide essential support to women living in refuge who have experienced domestic abuse and/or sexual violence. You will hold a caseload across multiple refuges, offering emotional and practical support while advocating for their needs.


Key Responsibilities

* Create a welcoming, supportive, and safe environment for women fleeing domestic abuse.
* Promote a trauma-informed, empowering, anti-racist, and intersectional feminist culture.
* Work in alignment with Hestia's values: Respectful, Genuine, Dedicated, Collaborative, Courageous.
* Provide bespoke interventions across various refuge sites, coordinating cases for women with multiple support needs.


Casework Responsibilities

* Ensure compliance with Children and Adult safeguarding legislation.
* Coordinate a caseload of women across multiple refuge sites.
* Provide domestic abuse support and risk management, including DASH assessments and MARAC referrals.
* Conduct high-quality assessments using ‘The Hestia Approach', focusing on strengths and recovery.
* Co-produce ‘Safety Plans’ and ‘Strengths and Aspirations Plans’ with women.
* Assist women in accessing therapeutic support for recovery.
* Ensure access to emergency supplies and apply for relevant grants.
* Support women in maximizing their income.
* Manage challenging behaviors with a resilient approach, supporting the refuge staff team.
* Provide crisis interventions across Hestia's refuges in London.


Partnership Work

* Develop strong links with agencies such as drug and alcohol services, mental health teams, and local authorities.
* Maintain relationships with local mental health and drug services, chairing multi-disciplinary case conferences as needed.
* Collaborate with health professionals to explore treatment options, including social prescribing.
* Support women in accessing appointments, attending with them when appropriate.


Working Together

* Lead an activities program across refuges focused on well-being and joy.
* Facilitate community meetings to bring staff and women together.
* Collaborate with the Volunteer team to create volunteer opportunities within the refuge.
* Assist women in accessing community services, attending with them when necessary.


Move-On Support

* Provide high-quality assessments in line with ‘The Hestia Approach'.
* Co-produce ‘Safety Plans’ and ‘Strengths and Aspirations Plans’ with women.
* Support women in accessing therapeutic support for recovery.
* Ensure access to emergency supplies and apply for relevant grants.
* Help women maximize their income and manage challenging behaviors effectively.
* Understand current housing legislation and welfare benefits.
* Create bespoke move-on goals as part of the strengths and aspirations assessment.
* Accurately record information on Hestia's case management system, ensuring compliance with GDPR.
* Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to the refuge.
