Job Description:
Location: Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Key Responsibilities:
* Work on a 24x7x365 rotating shift pattern (4 days on / 4 days off, 4 nights on / 4 nights off); perform change control and incident management;
* Maintain accurate tracking of all Data Centre assets and inventory;
* Supervise and escort third-party vendors as required;
* Plan and carry out installation, relocation, and decommissioning of IT hardware and network equipment in line with Data Centre standards;
* Manage structured cabling and physical infrastructure across the Data Centre;
* Ensure all work is completed in line with agreed SLAs;
* Update documentation and systems regularly to maintain accurate records;
* Comply with health and safety policies, quality standards, and site-specific security procedures.
Daily Operations and Projects:
* Maintain and utilise Data Centre toolsets to support efficient operations;
* Oversee Data Centre governance and ensure high standards are upheld;
* Collaborate with facilities providers to optimise energy efficiency;
* Support the daily running of the Data Centre, including installations, changes, and maintenance;
* Participate in service improvement initiatives and major infrastructure projects, including power system upgrades and replacements;
* Conduct basic server configuration (IDRAC, iLO);
* Perform hands-on tasks such as racking, stacking, patching, and cable management;
* Identify and troubleshoot faults, escalating when necessary;
* Manage complex inter-rack and inter-room cabling to support reliable IT and end-user connectivity.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Prior experience working in high-risk environments and data centres;
* Knowledge of DCIM tools and standards (desirable);
* Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Remedy (desirable);
* Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach;
* Solid understanding of infrastructure technologies and networking concepts;
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT service management tools;
* A dependable team player with the ability to work independently and under pressure;
* Flexible with regard to shift work;
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels;
* Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
