Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of a busy warehouse and distribution facility. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient operations across goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch, while maintaining high standards of health & safety, stock accuracy, and site security.
Responsibilities
* Warehouse Operations
o Manage daily warehouse activities including goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch
o Ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment to meet customer expectations
o Optimise warehouse layout and processes to improve efficiency and space utilisation
o Stock Control
o Maintain accurate stock levels through cycle counts and stocktakes
o Investigate and resolve discrepancies
o Drive continuous improvement in stock management processes
* Health & Safety
o Ensure full compliance with H&S legislation and company policies
o Conduct risk assessments, audits, and site inspections
o Promote a strong safety culture across the team
* Site Security
o Act as key holder, responsible for opening and closing the site
o Ensure security of premises, stock, and company assets
o Respond to alarm callouts where required
* Team Leadership
o Supervise, motivate, and develop warehouse staff
o Provide training, guidance, and performance management
o Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members
* Compliance & Continuous Improvement
o Support and maintain ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001)
o Ensure compliance with relevant UK healthcare standards
o Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practice
Requirements
* Proven experience in warehouse or operations management
* Strong understanding of warehouse processes, logistics, and stock control
* Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
* Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
* IT literate with experience using ERP or warehouse systems
* Must live within 30 minutes of Tunbridge Wells (key holder requirement)
Desirable
* Experience within a regulated industry (e.g., medical devices, healthcare, pharmaceuticals)
* Familiarity with ISO standards
* First Aid or Fire Marshal certification
* Degree or equivalent qualification
* Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently
