Are you passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you thrive in a busy environment where no two days are the same? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Support Officer to join our Statutory SEND Service. This is a vital role supporting the coordination of Education, Health and Care (EHC) processes, ensuring high‑quality provision, and helping families navigate the SEND system.

About The Role

As a SEND Support Officer, you'll play a key part in ensuring that statutory responsibilities are met and that services run smoothly. You will:

* Coordinate, track, and monitor the timely progression of key SEND meetings, panels, and decisions.
* Support the processing of EHC needs assessments, annual reviews, tribunals, and school placement consultations.
* Act as a key point of contact for professionals, families, and young people.
* Track daily attendance for children and young people in alternative provision, taking action where needed.
* Maintain accurate and timely records on systems such as MOSAIC and agreed databases.
* Provide data analysis to support service planning and performance.
* Ensure discussions, outcomes, and decisions are recorded consistently.
* Support the service in meeting statutory timeframes and reporting requirements.
* Uphold confidentiality at all times and raise safeguarding concerns promptly.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings both skill and compassion to the role. You should have:

* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
* Knowledge of the Children and Families Act, SEND Code of Practice, and graduated response.
* Awareness of disability, equity, and diversity.
* Strong IT skills.
* Commitment to excellent customer care.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A focus on improving outcomes for children and young people.
* Respectful, supportive, and solution‑focused approach.

Experience

Experience required:

* Experience in education, business support, or children’s social care.
* Ability to accurately record information in a timely manner.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Understanding of risk and ability to follow correct procedures.
* Experience building professional relationships with families and colleagues.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation. Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
