Offer description

This job is with Ingeus, an inclusive employer and a member of myGwork – the largest global platform for the LGBTQ+ business community. Please do not contact the recruiter directly.

Overview

Through the Gate Coordinator. Location: East Midlands including HMP sites Nottingham, Foston Hall, Ranby and Leicester. Contract: Full time Permanent. Salary: £28,755 per annum + benefits. This role covers prisons and community sites across the region, so the ability to travel is a key requirement of the role. There may also be a requirement to support the wider area. The organisation’s aim is to rebuild lives after prison by providing proactive support to service users.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of this role, you will support a caseload of service users transitioning from custody to the community. You’ll meet individuals in prison to begin planning their support in collaboration with their Support Worker, tailoring action plans to their specific needs. Post-release, you’ll continue to guide them, connecting them with the full range of available services and support.

Your work will take you across various settings—including prisons, community hubs, and probation offices—so flexibility and adaptability are essential. You’ll collaborate closely with pre-release teams, probation services, and internal departments to provide holistic, person-centred support throughout their journey.

The role requires excellent multitasking skills, as you’ll manage several service users at once, ensuring each receives the attention and guidance they need. Detailed and accurate record-keeping is critical, as measurable progress is central to our work.

* Community-based support: Guide individuals as per their action plan, helping them reintegrate through practical activities, from housing and employment to mental health and social connections.
* Collaboration: Your intervention may be part of a wider support package, so collaborating with internal and external colleagues is a key part of the role.
* Caseload management: Manage multiple individuals, balancing their needs while keeping up with related admin.
* Quality recording: Keep thorough, up-to-date records of all work on IT systems, ensuring progress is properly tracked.

What We're Looking For

* Relationship building: Ability to connect with people at all levels, engaging with key stakeholders within Probation and building relationships with Service Users in a genuine, non-judgmental way, with attention to confidentiality and boundaries.
* Safeguarding awareness: Ability to identify safeguarding risks and respond appropriately; fully supported following challenging interventions.
* IT and administrative skills: Meticulous records of every interaction to measure client progress and ensure effective interventions.
* Resilience: The role can be challenging and results may take time, but you stay committed and see things through.
* Flexibility: Comfortable with change, as referral flows change frequently.

Whilst we welcome applications from those with lived experience, this role requires an enhanced DBS check and HMPPS EL1 vetting. As checks are completed, you’ll have opportunities to shadow colleagues, ask questions, and learn the ropes.

Benefits

* 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to trade for additional leave.
* EAP Support programme available 24/7, including 6 free counselling sessions.
* Private medical insurance and life assurance.
* Up to 2 days of Community Giving (volunteering) each year to support a cause that matters to you.
* Eyecare vouchers for glasses or eye care.
* Online shopping discounts.
* Cycle to Work scheme and travel season ticket loan.
* Long service awards to celebrate commitment.
* Salary Finance offering financial education and advice.
* Opportunity to purchase extra benefits like critical illness cover and dental insurance.

We understand that everyone's journey is different, and we’re committed to making our recruitment process inclusive and accessible. If you require any support or adjustments—whether that’s help with the application, interview format, or anything else—we’re here to listen and work with you to find the best approach. Our goal is to ensure you can showcase your skills and potential in a way that works for you. Please contact us if you wish to discuss support options. If you think you have what it takes, apply today. If we receive enough applications, this role may close early.
