We are a Design & Build studio in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham, specialising increative hospitality and workplace environments, delivering awesome, innovative interiors from concept through to completion.
Role Overview
We are looking for a CAD technician to join our design team to produce, coordinate, and maintain accurate CAD drawings in line with design standards, project requirements, and construction regulations, supporting designers, and project managers throughout the project lifecycle. Above that we want someone who will thrive in a fast growing creative company!
Key Responsibilities
1. Drawing Production
* Prepare 2D & 3D drawings using AutoCAD software
* Produce plans, elevations, sections, and details from design briefs
* Update and revise drawings in response to design changes
* Ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and issued correctly
2. Technical Coordination
* Incorporate consultant information (MEP, structural, fire, etc.) into drawings
* Coordinate layouts to avoid clashes
* Maintain drawing registers and revision control
* Assist in producing coordinated drawing packages
3. Standards & Compliance
* Apply office CAD standards, layering conventions, and templates
* Ensure drawings comply with building regulations and codes (to instructed level)
* Maintain consistent notation, dimensioning, and annotations
4. Project Support
* Support architects/designers with technical documentation
* Assist with schedules (doors, finishes, FF&E where applicable)
* Prepare drawings for planning, tender, and construction stages
* Issue drawings to contractors and consultants as directed
5. Quality Control
* Check drawings for accuracy before issue
* Ensure changes are correctly reflected across all relevant drawings
* Maintain orderly file structures and backups
Software & Tools
* Revit / BIM software (desirable or required, depending on role)
* Adobe Creative Suite (basic use)
* Microsoft Office
* Strong technical drafting skills
* Good understanding of construction methods and detailing
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to follow instructions and design intent
* Time management and ability to meet deadlines
* Clear communication with design teams
* A good team player. Someone who rolls up their sleeves and gets stuck in!
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree, diploma, or certification in CAD, architectural technology, or construction
* Min 5 years experience in the UK construction industry.
* Knowledge of local building standards preferred
