An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic nursing assistant to join us on Willows Ward, specialising in the care of older age adults experiencing mental health conditions including dementia. We provide 24 hour care within our purpose built assessment and therapy unit, working within a multidisciplinary approach that optimises each individual's recovery.
Qualifications
If you don't already have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH is offering this post alongside the opportunity to complete a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification relevant to your role. As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work-related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive.
Responsibilities
* Undertake agreed activities as delegated by a registered nurse, with patients/service users under direct/indirect supervision of qualified staff.
* Provide care for patients’ physical and psychological needs, taking into account personal preferences and choices to ensure a high standard of patient care.
* Assist the relevant professionals during assessment, treatment or intervention where required, carrying out therapeutic and recreational programmes under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
* Carry out simple nursing procedures as instructed at the discretion of Registered Nurses, reporting on and recording findings (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration rate, maintaining fluid balance charts, diet charts, testing urine, weighing patients) while demonstrating the ability to recognise abnormalities and report to the nursing team.
* Observe and provide feedback of current patient’s status and presentation to appropriate members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* Assist patients with activities of daily living that they cannot achieve alone, seeking advice from and reporting to Registered Nurses as required.
* When required, visit patients in the community with identified tasks as part of their care.
* At the discretion of Registered Nurses, escort patients between departments and on therapeutic outings.
