Senior User Researcher – Contract (Inside IR35)
£600–£700 per day
• Until October 2026
• 1 day on-site weekly (London, Glasgow or Cardiff)
Are you a passionate, skilled Senior User Researcher ready to shape truly user‑centred services? We are looking for an experienced Senior User Researcher to join a multidisciplinary digital delivery environment, driving research excellence and improving services that have real impact.
In this role, you will be the expert voice of the user, bringing evidence‑based insights into design and delivery, championing best practice, and supporting teams to make informed decisions at pace.
What you will be doing
Leading user research activities across complex, multi‑disciplinary teams.
Applying a wide range of research methodologies and selecting the right approach for each problem.
Conducting research safely, ethically, and in line with GDPR and accessibility legislation.
Collaborating with user-centred design, digital delivery teams, and internal/external stakeholders.
Making research visible and influential—driving evidence-based decisions.
Supporting consistent ways of working and developing good practice within the research community.
Producing clear insights, artefacts, and recommendations that shape service design and delivery.
Essential Experience & Skills
Professional user research experience across a broad set of methodologies (lead criteria).
Strong background working in multi-disciplinary user-centred design and digital delivery teams.
Experience working with internal government stakeholders.
Hands-on experience working in Discovery for live services.
Ability to help organisations adopt a wide range of research approaches and choose the right method for the right outcome.
Working knowledge of GDS best practice.
Demonstrable experience ensuring compliance with GDPR and accessibility legislation.
