We're seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join our highly regarded Clinical Negligence Department, offering exceptional career development opportunities within one of Sheffield's leading legal practices. The Role You'll provide vital secretarial and administrative support to the Head of Department and wider fee earner team, working on varied and complex clinical negligence matters within our specialist litigation department. Key Responsibilities: • Providing high-quality secretarial and administrative support to senior fee earners • Audio and copy typing of complex legal documents and correspondence • Managing diaries, scheduling appointments, and coordinating case activities • Assisting with file opening and closing procedures using electronic case management systems • Producing and preparing Court documents and electronic bundles for hearings • Liaising professionally with clients and external professionals via telephone and email • Supporting completion of forms and case management processes including invoicing • Assisting with billing procedures and financial case management • Supporting audit preparation for Legal Aid and ATE insurance providers • Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements What We're Looking For • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally in Clinical Negligence, Personal Injury, or related litigation • Experience working with electronic case management systems (Partner for Windows advantageous) • Strong understanding of Clinical Negligence case funding including ATE/BTE insurance • Knowledge of Legal Aid funding and CCMS systems would be beneficial • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with professional telephone manner • Exceptional attention to detail, organisation, and time management abilities • Proactive approach with ability to work independently and as part of a team • Strong IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications What We Offer • Competitive salary: £24,000–£32,000 (dependent on experience) • Comprehensive benefits package including 4-6% pension contributions • Death in service benefit at 4x salary • Enhanced holiday entitlements with option to purchase additional days • Family-friendly policies and flexible working arrangements where appropriate • Employee Assistance Programme and wellbeing initiatives • Defined career pathways with regular appraisals and development opportunities • Access to leading professional networks and training programmes • Discounted legal fees and company sick pay • Supportive, collaborative working environment About Us Our client is a forward-thinking, multi-accredited firm with Legal 500 recognition for high-quality legal advice and compassionate client service.
