Grounds Maintenance Team Member - Wiltshire
The main purpose of this role is to provide an effective grounds maintenance service. The Grounds Maintenance Operative should have knowledge of garden maintenance and familiarity with the machinery used for grounds maintenance tasks.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* General maintenance of areas, including cut and collect, and cut and drop, using ride-on and pedestrian machinery.
* Undertaking horticultural operations such as hedge trimming, shrub bed maintenance, planting, strimming, blowing, hard surface maintenance, tree maintenance, chemical application, garden clearance, and general landscaping works.
* Removing litter, emptying bins, and clearing leaves.
* Carrying out Groundsman duties following best practices.
* Ensuring lower graded staff understand instructions and work as a team.
* Utilising craft skills for site preparation and construction activities.
* Operating ride-on and pedestrian mowers.
* Using various tools and equipment, including power tools and light plant.
* Driving company vehicles and towing trailers as required.
* Assisting the Chargehand with contract requirements and completing relevant paperwork in their absence.
* Supporting the Chargehand in completing work within deadlines, quality, and standards.
* Promoting a sense of pride and professionalism within the team.
* Assisting apprentices and fixed-term operatives and communicating with the Chargehand on maintenance matters.
* Communicating effectively with managers and team members.
* Following workforce discipline procedures.
* Wearing correct uniform and PPE at all times.
* Accurately inputting site visit data into the Glendale Live 2.0 system.
* Performing operations in compliance with Health and Safety procedures.
* Adhering to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards where possible.
* Developing good working relationships with colleagues, clients, and customers.
* Following instructions regarding vehicle use and ensuring equipment safety and maintenance.
* Monitoring and reporting on vehicle and equipment conditions, especially in the absence of the Chargehand.
Health and Safety
* Acting in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and company policies.
* Following instructions from managers and completing necessary health and safety training.
* Ensuring personal and team safety and equipment safety at all times.
Machine Maintenance and Security
* Understanding the suitability and safety of machinery and equipment used.
* Reporting defects and completing maintenance checks.
* Securing machinery and equipment when not in use.
Qualifications
* Experience in grounds maintenance and horticulture is desirable but training will be provided.
* Experience with handheld machinery is desirable; full training will be given.
The candidate must hold a full, clean UK driving license.
