Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities

* Provide technical input and create designs required for projects, developing 3D models and drawings, reviewing 3D models and drawings, and supporting the engineering team.
* Design project-specific items to be manufactured by our Company and other companies; facilitate internal workflow as required.
* Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering professionals, and clients to develop designs and engineering documents (in person and remotely).
* Ensure designs align with client specifications and standards, and that projects can be installed and delivered successfully.
* Maintain professional standards within the engineering team and adhere to project specifications and standards.
* Attend design and production meetings; communicate actions back to the wider engineering team.
* Produce detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and project status reports.
* Research and review project requirements; prepare standard engineering documents and calculations using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and related systems.
* Coordinate with Sales Engineers, Project Managers, and Operations Managers to establish functions and deadlines for projects.
* Specify and source bought-out components and create Bills of Materials (BOM).
* Produce General Arrangement Drawings and DFMs in line with customer requirements and company practices.
* Review drawings and 3D models to ensure alignment with scope and corporate drawing standards.
* Ensure that projects meet specifications and standards issued by clients, BS/Euro standards, and Wakefield Acoustics own standards and processes.
* Work with cross-functional teams to develop and integrate new platform features.
* Quality Assurance: design testing methods and fixtures, and confirm fabrication, assembly, and installation processes to ensure quality.


Essential Knowledge & Experience

* Proficiency in CAD software, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and excellent communication.
* Excellent verbal and written communication; able to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Commitment to health and safety standards, quality, and continuous personal performance improvement.
* Extensive design experience, ideally in manufacturing and power generation (specifically diesel generators or switchgear).
* HND/ Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
* General understanding of engineering and ability to travel as required.
* Understanding of engineering systems, process, and best practices.
* Strong analytical abilities and capability as a clear thinker.
* Strong capability in steel fabrication and mechanical engineering.


Desirable Knowledge & Experience

* Degree in a relevant discipline (preferred).
* Experience with steel manufacturing.
* Experience within the power generation industry.
* Structural engineering experience.
* Acoustic engineering experience.


Minimum Education & Experience

* ONC/OND in engineering.
* 3+ years SolidWorks / Inventor experience.
* Microsoft Office proficiency.

Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:00–16:00 (½ unpaid break); Friday 07:00–10:30 or 08:30–12:00 (37.5 hours/week).
