Purpose of job
Birketts is recruiting for an ambitious, driven and forward-thinking environmental lawyer to join our growing Planning and Environmental Team on a permanent basis. The team operates across four offices and is expanding, so the ability to work across offices and travel occasionally is expected. Ideally, you would have a home office in Cambridge or Ipswich to facilitate supervision and a diverse workload.
You will provide high-level legal support to a designated group of fee earners and the wider team, managing a diverse caseload of planning and environmental work. The focus will be on delivering high-quality environmental law advice to our clients.
Experience in planning law and environmental law is beneficial, but candidates with experience only in environmental law are also encouraged to apply. Willingness to learn about planning law is essential if not already familiar.
Accountabilities
* Support the Planning and Environmental team in achieving growth and excellent client service
* Collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervising junior staff and seeking guidance from senior team members
* Proficiently use software like Microsoft Word and Excel to produce professional documents, spreadsheets, and presentations
* Become expert in legal software such as Hi Q, Expert Time Recording, and Compare Docs
* Prepare advice and documentation to high standards, meeting client deadlines
* Update clients on progress as needed
* Proofread all work for accuracy and clarity
* Participate in business development activities for the team and firm
