About the Role:
The Finance Director is responsible for providing a dedicated focus and leadership of the Financial agenda for the company.
As Finance Director, you will be the commercial anchor of a fast-evolving manufacturing business with bold growth ambitions. You will lead financial strategy, systems transformation, and data-led decision-making — embedding the principles of Accounting 4.0 through automation, integration, and real-time insight. Your work will give the business the systems, controls, and commercial clarity it needs to scale confidently.
The role requires a senior executive who will become part of the leadership team reporting to the CEO and responsible for: -
* Lead all financial planning, budgeting, and cash flow forecasting
* Prepare monthly management accounts and board-level KPI dashboards
* Deliver timely, accurate financial reporting with clear analysis and insight
* Ensure full statutory compliance (VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE, pensions, audit, Companies House)
* Oversee company payroll, manage pension obligations, and calculate sales and other bonuses in conjunction with the regular staff KPI evaluation process
* Manage cash collection, credit control, and debtor performance, ensuring alignment with commercial terms
* Evaluating suitability of and applying for all grants and tax credits.
You will be responsible for the full financial agenda, setting the strategy and management; initial KPIs include:
* Maintain Gross Profit Margin (tracked monthly via live dashboard)
* Deliver live monthly management reporting within 5 working days of period end
* Design, approve, and implement a new company-wide bonus scheme by end of Q1 2026, with full costings and calculation model in place
* Implement ERP finance improvements
* Introduce rolling 12-month forecasting process by with quarterly board review
* Review and optimise all financing agreements
* Automate standard procurement processes and introduce supplier spend analytics by mid-2026
About You:
As a qualified and experienced Finance Professional, you will have a full range of financial management and accounting skills and experience, ideally gained in an industrial / manufacturing environment.
You will be able to act as a true Business Partner - offering commercial finance insight, advice, and added-value. That means you will need exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, plus cultural empathy. Your planning, prioritisation and goal-setting skills will enable you to work in a dynamic change environment.
You will be: -
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior finance role in manufacturing or industrial businesses
• Strong financial modelling, ERP experience, and commercial analysis skills
• Experience with payroll, grant funding, and incentive scheme design
• Confident communicator, with the ability to challenge constructively and lead change
• Comfortable working independently and at pace in a transformation environment
We are open to structuring this role as either a permanent appointment or a fixed-term transformation contract, with the option to extend or evolve the position based on delivery and fit.
