Leading the World with Innovative Healthcare Solutions that Enhance Lives Summary (Major Purpose of the Role): The Production Managers role within the Manufacturing team is to direct and co-ordinate manufacturing in achieving manufacturing schedules and meeting the Companys business objectives. Reporting to the Site Manager in this challenging role, you will lead a team to ensure the manufacture of all products is carried out in an effective and efficient manner to agreed standards and costrestraints,whilstpursuingthecompanyspeopledevelopmentandcontinuousimprovementethics of Quality, Cost and Delivery. Main Activities/Responsibilities: Operational Management Ensurethatallproductsaremanufacturedaccordingtocustomerspecificationsandarecompleted and delivered to the customer on time through the efficient use of labour and resources. To monitor and manage effectively all cost centre budgets under remit, production activities includingstocklevels,materialsusageandcontrol,wastemanagementandproductivitylevels. LeadLeanManufacturingprogrammesandinitiativesincluding5S,Targetcostingand process analysis Toworkcloselyandco-operatewithQuality, Health and Safety, Prototype development and Customer Servicedepartments,ensuringprocesses operate at an optimum level and to continuously seek to develop and improve all processes, procedures, operations and methods within area of responsibility TakeresponsibilityforandmaintainallCostofPoorQuality(COPQ)activities. Manageandmaintainthebusinessasrequiredthroughgoodunderstandingofallcomputersystems within the production areas of the company in order to provide relevant reports to various third parties Toensurestaffinglevelsmeetproductionrequirementeachworkingdayandthatallfunctionsare adequately and appropriately staffed at all times To ensure Manufacturing maintains its quality assurance accreditation through the compliance of the business unit to all quality procedures and company procedures/standards as detailed in companyanddepartmentmanualsandbypromoting continuous quality improvement at all times Toensurethat,inlinewithagreedbudgetarytargets,effectiveresourcesareinplace tomeetthe demands of the business unit, complying with all relevant policies and procedures. Ensure all operative and strategic targets are reached within the business unit, e.g. Productivity, Costs,Processoptimisation,scheduledelivery99%orhigher,scrapratebelow1%. Leadership&People Management Manage,motivate,andsupportdepartmentalLeadersandProductionemployees. Effectively work with the HR Department to ensure all staff training and development needs are identified and met through the implementation of the companys performance review process ensuring that all Companyemploymentrelations policies andproceduresare always implemented.Toliaisewiththe Site ManagerandHRDepartmentonmattersrequiringadviceand guidance. Daytodaymanagementofproductionstaff InconjunctionwiththeHRDepartment,recruitProductionstafftocarryoutmanufacturing operative duties, including Temporary staff via Drive contracts. Havingapragmatic,hands-onapproachwithleadershipskillsbeingalways highly visible Communication Ensurethateffectiveandregularcommunicationtakesplacebetweenteamsandindividuals. Holdregularteamcommunicationforumsandensurethatrelevantbusinessinformationis communicated effectively and cascaded throughout area of responsibility. Developandfostergoodworking relationshipswithshiftleaders,relatedfunctions,andinternaland external customers. Health&Safety Effectivelyensurethatallhealth&safetyregulationsandpracticesaremetandadheredtoforthe safety of employees. Ensurethatfullco-operationisgiventotheHealth&SafetyManagerinrelationtoriskassessment and accident reporting incidences. General Responsibilities Complywithallhealth&safetyrequirements. Complywithallothercompanypolicies&procedures. Takeresponsibilityforpersonaldevelopment,identifytrainingneeds,andrequestappropriate training as required. WorkcloselywiththeHRDepartmentandQualityDepartmenttodeliverappropriatestandardsin line with company policies. Deliveryaseamlessinterfacewithinternalandexternalcustomers Competencies: Workedinacomplexmulti-processproductionenvironmentwith good technical knowledge of manufacturing. Befamiliarwithandhavepracticalexperienceofleanmanufacturingproductiontechniques, process improvements and pro-active quality management. ProvenManufacturingmanagement background. Drivenbytargetsandhaveastrongcommitmenttoqualityoutput. Strongpeoplemanagementskills,withabilitytofocusanddrivestafftoachieveresultsina pressurised environment to strict deadlines. Beself-motivated, positiveandconfidentwhentakingresponsibilityforallareasofmanufacturing. Capacitygeneration,cellularlayout,resourceplanning Sounddecisionmakingandproblem-solvingskillsessential. ProvenProjectmanagementskills ExcellentanalyticalskillstomonitorandmanageKPIs,alongwith GoodIT,writtenandverbalcommunicationskills. Ateamplayerwithexcellentmotivationalleadershipskills HavethepassionanddesiretodriveforwardimprovementstoensuretheCompanycontinuesto manufacture high quality products. Reporting Relationships and Supervision: Direct Manager : Site Manager Subordinate(s): Cell Leaders, Operators. Education and Experience: Must have a Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent Must have previous experience of working in an Engineering environment, Apprentice trained is desirable Previousexperienceinamanufacturingmanagementrolewithinacomplexproductenvironment CertificateinOperationsManagementorCertificateinManagementStudies SixSigmaGreenBelt preferred. GoodunderstandingofISO9001,AS9100orTS16949 ERP/MRPPlanningschedulingexperience. Relevantpracticaldeploymentofleanmanufacturingtechniques,processimprovementsandpro- active quality management including 5S, TPM & SQDCP. IOSH/NEBOSH certified desirable.
