Hutchison Ports – Port of Felixstowe is the UK’s largest deep‑water container port and a key gateway for global trade. We are currently looking for an Asset Lead to join our Engineering team, playing a critical role in the performance, reliability and lifecycle management of our operational assets.
This role is responsible for the ownership and management of engineering assets in line with ISO 55000 principles, ensuring maintenance activities are planned, coordinated and delivered effectively across short, medium and long‑term horizons. You will oversee maintenance schedules, work order management and asset performance, ensuring operational continuity while balancing cost, safety and efficiency.
Working closely with Engineering Managers, Operations and wider stakeholders, you will lead maintenance planning, support project delivery, and drive continuous improvement across engineering systems and processes.

Role Overview
Key responsibilities include:
· Develop and manage maintenance plans and schedules, ensuring alignment with operational requirements and asset availability.
· Manage the full work order lifecycle, from planning and scheduling through to execution, close‑out and performance monitoring.
· Coordinate engineering teams, contractors and resources to deliver maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
· Lead and support capital projects, including scope definition, planning, stakeholder engagement and delivery within time and budget.
· Monitor and analyse maintenance KPIs such as equipment uptime, backlog and schedule compliance, driving performance improvement.
· Oversee asset lifecycle management, including reliability analysis, upgrades, shutdowns and long‑term asset strategies.
· Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, engineering standards, ISO 55000 principles and health & safety policies.
· Manage supplier and OEM relationships, including warranty issues, technical modifications and support services.
· Prepare and control risk assessments, permits to work and associated safety documentation for maintenance activities.
· Drive continuous improvement across maintenance processes, systems and tools.
What you need:
· HNC (or higher) in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering discipline.
· At least 4 years’ experience in a maintenance engineering environment, including exposure to leadership or coordination responsibilities.
· Strong understanding of asset management, maintenance planning and engineering systems.
· Proven ability to analyse data and make informed technical and operational decisions.
· Knowledge of engineering standards, safety requirements and maintenance best practice.
· Experience of project or asset management (qualification desirable).
· IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) desirable.
· Strong IT skills, with experience using maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office.
