Venn Group is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a national charity for an experienced Accountant to join its Finance team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a part qualified finance professional to join a collaborative and mission‑driven organisation during a busy period.
Working within an established Finance team, the role will provide hands on support across core financial accounting activities, subsidiary accounting, and audit preparation. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring strong balance sheet control, and supporting both statutory and management reporting. This is a broad, generalist role offering exposure across multiple areas of the accounting function within a charity environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate financial records across the charity and its subsidiary entities using SUN Accounts
* Support the preparation of standalone year end accounts and assist with internal and external audits
* Complete month end and year end close activities, including journals, accruals, and prepayments
* Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and maintain appropriate supporting documentation
* Account for grant and restricted expenditure, including reconciliations and forecasting
* Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and cash flow reporting
* Assist with the administration and ongoing support of a purchase to pay system, including responding to user queries
* Maintain asset registers and calculate depreciation
* Support VAT compliance, including maintaining records and assisting with VAT returns
* Work closely with internal stakeholders to obtain financial information and resolve queries
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Part qualified (ACCA / CIMA) or qualified by experience
* Strong background in financial accounting and balance sheet reconciliations
* Experience supporting audit processes
* Confident working to deadlines in a fast paced environment
* Strong Excel skills and high attention to detail
* Organised, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team
* Experience with SUN Accounts is desirable but not essential
