Role: Structural Engineer

Salary: £31,000 to £47,000

Our client, based in Motherwell, is need of an experienced Structural Engineer who is competent in the design of all the regularly used construction materials and building forms. The Practice has a wide and varied workload and to deal with this, any candidate must have the following.
Necessary qualities for the Structural Engineer role include the following.
• the ability to use ingenuity and creativity to resolve complex engineering and wider problems
• a good grasp of the behaviour of structures
• BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng in civil and/or structural engineering
• minimum four years as design engineer
Desirable qualities for the candidate include the following.
• Chartered structural engineer or near chartered
• able to carry out surveys and produce reports
• a working knowledge of structural timber
• ability to deal with new enquiries and provide fee proposals for quotation purposes
• able to use AutoCAD and produce drawings and sketches by hand
• have an understanding and a real desire to work with historic buildings
• understanding and desire to work on projects where the aim is to provide ecologically sound and energy efficient buildings.
The company is a busy practice with a solid workload that requires continuity in their staff. The buildings and projects they are involved with is wide and varied so there is little chance of getting stuck working on the same thing day after day.
You will be based at their Ipswich office and their work is mostly in the nearby area and throughout Scotland.
