Our service covers two acute hospital sites: Queen's Hospital in Romford (CQC Outstanding) and King George Hospital in Ilford (CQC Good), serving over 840,000 people across Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, and Brentwood.

Collaborative Partnerships: Work closely with Saint Francis Hospice (CQC Outstanding), community palliative care teams, and be part of innovative partnership models across North East London.

Professional Development: Access regional consultant networks, monthly partnership meetings, quarterly CPD forums, and opportunities to contribute to strategic service development.

Diverse and Meaningful Work: Serve one of London's most diverse populations with complex palliative care needs, making a genuine impact on patient outcomes and family experiences.

Main duties of the job:

* Provide specialist clinical care to adult patients with life-limiting illnesses across malignant and non-malignant conditions.
* Lead and support colleagues through clinical advice, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Join our 24/7 consultant on-call rota providing telephone support to trust staff.
* Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team handling over 2,000 referrals annually.
* Contribute to education and training including mandatory EOLC training, medical student teaching, and our educational podcast series.
* Support service development aligned with national End of Life Care ambitions and our new BHRUT EOLC Strategy.

Working for our organisation:

We’re an organisation committed to continuous improvement, driven by a desire to deliver high-quality care. We have recently opened at our Elective Surgical Hub in King George Hospital, and our CEO was named by the Health Service Journal in 2024.

Our main sites are KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford, serving over 330,000 emergency department visitors last year. We are campaigning for £35m to eliminate corridor care.

Our patients benefit from services in Ilford, Hornchurch, and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC), which provide over 94,000 scans annually, operating 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our staff, over 8,000 from 146 countries, reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. More than 400 staff are on our Ofsted accredited list. We are proud to be an employer of choice.

We are introducing an electronic patient record system that will transform staff workflows and patient care.
