Overview
We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The ECU leads a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals. The ECU Manager will be the strategic lead for financial investigations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), with a proactive approach to continually improving how we work.

Responsibilities
* Lead two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigations Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; provide strong leadership, motivate and develop the team, and manage performance and work delivery.
* Act as the strategic lead for financial investigations under POCA and collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC).
* Influence at a senior level to ensure the Environment Agency’s priorities are supported and recognised by other enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes and understanding of POCA; share lessons learned, input into changes to technical documentation, and advise enforcement officers across the country.
* Work with the two ECU teams to address serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience and Skills
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team; good understanding of financial investigations and POCA.
* Experience in the law enforcement sector with an understanding of the National Intelligence Model.
* Strong communication skills, including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise a varied workload.
* Ability to identify areas for improvement and lead changes to working practices; develop and enhance the capability of a team and individuals.
Additional Information
* Hybrid working role; work from home and your nearest office with travel across the country for meetings and operational duties. Incident response is a central part of the role, and you may be required to participate in incident response or business continuity support; this may attract additional payment.
