Key Purpose
16. To plan and coordinate manufacturing quality activities and improvement programmes.
17. Ensure that all products are manufactured to relevant international standard(s) and meet or exceed Collins Aerospace and customer needs.
18. Ensure new products are developed & introduced in accordance with APQP process
The Role:
19. To work alongside manufacturing to improve operational performance
20. To establish/support quality policies and procedures that are followed throughout the business that contribute to consistent high-class performance in all areas
21. Represent the business with customers and regulatory authorities with the objective of inspiring confidence and enabling positive cooperation in the quality of products and services provided
22. Ensure the identification and control of all non-conforming products
23. Develop, promote and lead continuous improvement activities
24. Provide support and assistance to manufacturing in development and execution of corrective actions
25. Lead/participate in quality system and/or process audits in Collins as needed
26. Develop the quality standard for new development programs, and work with the customer to achieve agreement and sign off ahead of commencing production
27. As part of a cross functional team, following the APQP process, influence the design, supply chain and build process to ensure the required quality standard can be achieved on a repeated basis.
28. Develop and monitor production line/business unit performance metrics and initiate improvement plans when appropriate
29. Leads and participates in supplier and in house improvement events
30. Manage and support as appropriate internal and customer FAI’s, ensuring that quality requirements are clearly defined
31. Contribute and participate in Material Review Board’s
32. Travel nationally and internationally (on occasion at short notice) in line with business requirements
33. Take initiative and seek results in a structured way
34. Clear communication (both verbally and orally) to all levels within the organisation on quality related topics
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Criteria:
35. Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline and a minimum of 1 year’s relevant Quality or Engineering experience
OR
36. A higher level qualification, such as HNC/HND, in a relevant discipline and 2+ years relevant Quality or Engineering experience
OR
37. 3+ year’s relevant Quality Engineering or Engineering experience
Desirable Criteria:
38. Demonstrate experience of completing problem solving activities using methods such as 3C, 8D, 7D, DMAIC etc.
39. Working knowledge of New Product Development & Introduction (APQP)
40. Working knowledge of lean principles
41. In depth knowledge and application of ISO9001/AS9100 standards
