About the Role
As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our nursing and multidisciplinary teams to provide safe, compassionate and high-quality care. Your day will be varied - assisting with patient comfort, helping with delegated clinical tasks, ensuring equipment is ready and available, and providing essential administrative and clerical support to keep the unit running smoothly.
You will work closely with Registered and Enrolled Nurses, contributing to patient care activities, maintaining confidentiality and dignity for all patients, and supporting the wider team during busy periods. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with people, is keen to develop their skills, and thrives in a collaborative and supportive environment.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Medical/Respiratory Service at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Hospital is a welcoming and dedicated team committed to delivering safe, patient-centred care. You will work alongside nurses, allied health professionals, medical staff and administration teams, all focused on supporting patients with a range of medical and respiratory needs.

About you
As a Health Care Assistant, you are kind, reliable, and passionate about helping others. You will have:
* NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing (Level 3) - Health Assistance, or be currently enrolled/working toward it, or be committed to starting within six months of employment.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills.
* A respectful, patient-centred approach.
* Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues across the service.
* Motivation, initiative and reliability.
* Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to equitable care.
* Experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
