About The Role
As an Environmental Protection Officer, you will contribute to the Service’s objectives by undertaking investigations and activities to achieve regulatory compliance. Your responsibilities include providing informal advice, taking formal action, and prosecution in accordance with applicable codes, guidance, and policies. Key duties include:
1. Conduct investigations and undertake informal and formal actions as appropriate.
2. Manage a caseload of environmental protection-related work to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with council policies.
3. Investigate noise and nuisance complaints and collaborate with other agencies for appropriate action.
4. Assess and respond to licensing and planning applications, attending relevant hearings and meetings.
5. Provide technical input on large-scale developments and projects across Buckinghamshire.
6. Offer training and support to colleagues to maintain competencies in regulatory interventions.
Mobile Role
This role offers flexibility to schedule your own diary, meeting colleagues and clients in various locations. You will access digital resources remotely and work from home or in the office as needed.
About You
* Diploma, Degree, or MSc in Environmental Health or equivalent qualification and work experience.
* Desirable: additional noise-related qualification.
* Relevant experience in environmental protection, especially noise and statutory nuisance.
* Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices.
* Proven ability to conduct interviews, gather evidence, and handle sensitive issues.
* Ability to work collaboratively with teams and external agencies.
* A full driving license and flexibility to work outside normal hours as required.
Other Information
Must have a full driving license and access to a vehicle. Ability to work flexibly, including outside standard hours. This role is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; applicants must declare all unspent cautions and convictions. For details, refer to the official guide.
