Job Summary
We are looking for a Deputy Data Protection Officer to lead and coordinate data protection workloads and services, and oversee the management all information requests.
This is a crucial role within the team, to ensure ongoing alignment to the strategic objectives of the organisation balanced with maintaining statutory and regulatory compliance priorities and managing emerging risks.
The role holder will be required to build and maintain good visibility and understanding of the organisation’s priorities, working closely with the Data Protection Officer to ensure the work of the team remains aligned to and proportionate to shifting internal business demands as well as the external regulatory and legislative landscape.
This is a great opportunity to build stakeholder relationships at more senior levels within HM Land Registry (HMLR) and more widely across government, and to raise the profile of information rights within HMLR. The role will be diverse, and the role holder will have the opportunity to shape policy, the strategic plan, and consider the wider training needs of colleagues across all Groups.
Job Description
You will attend internal meetings and committees and operate across organisational boundaries. As an active member of the Strategic People Leadership Network, you will engage with and champion a stronger compliance culture across the organisation.
You will lead on implementing appropriate guidance, training and awareness based on the policies set by the Data Protection Officer (DPO), coordinating activities across the team in their delivery.
When deputising for the DPO, you will be required to work autonomously to analyse complex problems and make effective decisions and sound judgments under pressure, working closely with and influencing senior management and key decision makers.
You will provide subject matter expertise on the application of data protection and freedom of information legislation within the context of HMLR and the wider legislative frameworks that apply.
You will establish and nurture ongoing communications with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) and identified business areas to champion the importance of information compliance and maintain ongoing awareness.
You will keep abreast of legislative changes, emerging standards and best practice, working closely with the Data Protection Officer to develop these into clear, consistent and actionable guidance for HMLR.
For more information about the role, please see the attached Candidate Pack.
