Job Summary
We are on the brink of a very exciting time in NHS Highland at Fort William and are looking for a committed and innovative surgeon to join us on this journey. We are in the process of designing and building a new in‑patient facility in Fort William to replace our current 32‑bedded hospital. You can be part of developing this unit into a hospital for the future.
Responsibilities
* Deliver broad general surgical care and work flexibly as part of an integrated team.
* Develop and maintain special interests in partnership with specialists across the Highland region.
* Provide active teaching and support to specialist nurses, undergraduate students and junior doctors, facilitating their learning and development.
* Take an integral role in the day‑to‑day running of the hospital, ensuring high standards of patient care and service delivery.
Qualifications
* Broad general surgical experience with excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
* Currently on the General Medical Council Specialist Register with a License to Practice or within six months of obtaining CCT in General Medicine at the time of interview.
* Openness to working part‑time and flexibly, with posts adapted to suit individual candidate needs.
