Job Description

Specialist SEND Provision (Northwich)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience, Minimum £88.92 per day
Contract: Full-time, term-time only (8:20 – 3:30 day)
Start Date: ASAP or on notice
Location: Northwich (Specialist Independent Provision)

Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them reach their full potential?

A newly opened specialist independent provision in Northwich is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their growing team. Supporting pupils aged 4–11, the school offers an innovative, therapeutic learning environment designed to meet the holistic needs of every child. When at full capacity, the school will accommodate up to 108 pupils, enabling small, nurturing classes and personalised learning experiences.

⭐ About the Role

Please apply only if you can commit to full-time, term-time hours (8:20am–3:30pm).

As a Learning Support Assistant in this specialist setting, you will:
• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Assist in delivering a creative, therapeutic curriculum that values emotional development as much as academic progress.
• Work closely with Teachers, Therapists, and other professionals to ensure each child receives the provision they need.
• Support pupils in regulating emotions, building resilience, and developing positive relationships.
• Promote a safe, secure, nurturing learning environment that reflects the needs of each individual pupil.
• Engage in outdoor learning, including the school’s unique Forest School provision.
• Contribute to personalised behaviour support strategies, trauma-informed practice, and evidence-based interventions.

This role is ideal for individuals who are caring, patient, and passionate about inclusive education—whether you are experienced or looking to grow your skills within SEND.

🌱 What It Looks Like to Work in This School

Working within this specialist provision means being part of a community that prioritises both staff and pupil wellbeing. Staff benefit from:
• A nurturing, therapeutic environment rooted in trust, relationships, and emotional intelligence.
• A curriculum designed to boost self-esteem, communication, social skills, and positive behaviour choices.
• Access to integrated support such as speech and language therapy, sensory integration, emotional regulation, and creative therapies.
• A Forest School environment promoting hands-on, nature-based learning to develop confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving.
• Strong collaboration with families, multi-disciplinary teams, and colleagues who share your commitment to improving life chances for vulnerable young people.
• Ongoing CPD, reflective practice sessions, and support from highly experienced SEND professionals.

Here, staff are not just employees—they are part of a therapeutic team working collectively to help every child thrive.

💛 Why Work in a SEND Setting?

• Make a real difference to some of Cheshire’s most vulnerable pupils.
• Smaller class sizes enabling deeper relationships and personalised support.
• Creativity encouraged—tailor learning to pupils’ interests and emotional needs.
• Rewarding, meaningful work where every step of progress matters.
• Specialist training opportunities to enhance your SEND and SEMH expertise.
• Collaborative, trauma-informed team culture.
• Strong work–life balance supported by a school that values staff wellbeing.
