Job Summary
Theatre Troupe works with children who have mental health problems as a result of trauma. We’re looking for a dynamic, positive and caring individual to develop and lead our volunteer programme.
Job Description
Volunteers are the life blood of Theatre Troupe. Our specialist methodology - the Theatre Troupe Model, based on attachment theory and attunement - established the essential aspect of volunteer mentors which underpins everything we do. Most volunteers are one-to-one mentors, but we also have our "chorus", members of which work across the project in a range of ways. Up to now, we have been recruiting volunteers on a project-by-project basis, but as we upscale and reach more young people, there is a requirement to build and implement a rolling programme, with a central application process.
The Volunteer Coordinator is key to developing and maintaining our programme. We're looking for someone who enjoys taking initiative and working collaboratively, has strong organisational skills, and is able to work flexibly. You will become part of a close-knit team, all working together to help our participants to face brighter futures.
Job Requirements
The Volunteer Coordinator role will focus on recruiting and managing volunteers for our two Youth Troupe projects in Tower Hamlets and Southwark. Project activities take place at Queen Mary University London's Mile End Campus on Wednesdays from January, and Southwark Playhouse Elephant on Mondays, from April. The post requires attendance at some training and workshop sessions, but much of it can be done remotely and flexibly.
Timescale of contract: November 2025-December 2026
14 hours a week for 40 weeks to be spread across the period as mutually agreed between Theatre Troupe and the post-holder
Fee: £8680 (to be paid in instalments)
Please see the application pack for more details about requirements in the person specification.
