What you'll do
* Act as a deputy to the Sous Chef, supervising all kitchen activities, including food preparation and storage areas.
* Lead, coordinate, and motivate the kitchen team.
* Support and train team members across all sections to encourage promotion and growth.
* Ensure daily food preparation meets recipes and specifications regarding size, quantity, and quality.
* Sample, smell, and observe food to ensure conformance to standards.
* Maintain food quality control, proper food rotation, and waste elimination.
* Participate in menu planning and food production to control costs.
* Coordinate with back-of-house staff to maintain efficient food production.
* Conduct daily food line inspections to ensure quality standards.
* Assist in hiring, training, and evaluating team members.
* Manage inventory and procurement of food, supplies, and equipment.
* Inform front-of-house staff about menu changes, specials, and shortages.
* Maintain budgeted food and recipe costs.
What you'll bring
* COSHH certification
* Extensive experience as a Chef De Cuisine or Sous Chef in a 5-star establishment
* Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
* Proficiency in computer skills including Word, Excel, email, inventory control systems, and POS
* Understanding of hospitality industry legislation such as health and safety, licensing, and employment law
* Experience in menu development, ordering, and costing processes
* Leadership qualities and excellent communication skills
* Legal right to work in the United Kingdom
