Circa: Salary - Salary Plan, 54,500.00 GBP Annual The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) has an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Manager to join our vibrant Customer Experience & Marketing team on a one-year fixed term contract. This role is ideal for an experienced marketing manager who enjoys combining customer insight, data, and creativity to deliver campaigns that make a measurable difference. You will lead the development of customer- and data-led marketing plans, shaped around defined customer segments and localised appropriately for key international markets. Working closely with colleagues and customers across territories, you will use insight and performance data to develop inspiring, effective campaigns that drive engagement, impact, and return on investment. You will also lead and motivate a small team of Marketing Executives, creating an environment where curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement thrive. In this role you will bring a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on delivery, and people leadership, with a strong commitment to customer-centred marketing. About the role Lead and manage a team of Marketing Executives, supporting them as campaign specialists to plan, deliver, and continuously improve creative, customer-focused marketing activity. Develop strategic marketing plans grounded in customer insight, segmentation, and data, tailored to specific audiences and localised for priority international markets. Use data and insight to measure performance, report on results, and make evidence-based decisions to optimise impact. Work closely with marketing colleagues based internationally to deliver consistent, high-quality campaigns across all territories. Manage the team’s budget, ensuring activity is delivered on time, within budget, and against agreed priorities. Evaluate campaign effectiveness and identify opportunities to enhance performance and return on investment. Engage effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment, clarity, and shared ownership of outcomes. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the RSC’s brand, products, services, and key messages. What we’re looking for: Essential: Strong experience delivering data-led marketing campaigns, including confident use of segmentation and insight to shape strategy. Demonstrable ability to translate customer insight into clear, effective marketing plans that deliver tangible results. Experience building and maintaining corporate and B2B relationships. Proven experience managing and developing marketing teams, fostering a culture of high performance. Experience working in a matrix organisation, collaborating with customer experience, product, and other stakeholder teams. Solid experience in budget and resource management. Experience delivering coordinated international marketing activity, adapted to local market needs. Ability to engage with customers internationally to inform strategy and strengthen relationships. Desirable: Experience working within a charitable, not-for-profit, membership, or publishing environment. Knowledge of academia or scholarly publishing. Degree in marketing or equivalent relevant experience. Relevant professional qualification and commitment to continuous professional development (CPD).
