Care coordinator Job description As a Care Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth delivery of care services. You will be responsible for coordinating care staff, managing rotas, liaising with clients and families, and ensuring care is delivered safely and effectively. This is a fast-paced, people-focused role that requires strong organisational skills, compassion, and attention to detail. Responsibilities will include Key Responsibilities Create and manage staff rotas using care management systems Ensure all care visits are allocated and covered Respond to last-minute changes (e.g. sickness, emergencies) Minimise missed or late calls Act as first point of contact for care workers Support new staff during induction and shadowing Monitor staff performance and attendance Assist with spot checks and competency observations Maintain regular communication with clients and relatives Respond to queries, concerns, and complaints Ensure care plans are followed and updated Ensure care delivery aligns with CQC standards Maintain accurate records and documentation Support audits and inspections Report incidents, safeguarding concerns, and risks Participate in out-of-hours on-call rota Handle emergencies and staffing issues Skills and Qualification Experience in domiciliary care (minimum 12 years) Experience in care coordination or senior care role Strong organisational and time management skills Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Ability to work under pressure and problem-solve quickly Good IT skills (care planning/rota systems) Knowledge of safeguarding and care standards : NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or working towards it desirable Benefits Competitive salary Oncall paid separately Ongoing paid training and professional development Supportive management team Career progression opportunities Pension scheme Employee wellbeing support
