Job description: We have an opportunity for a Senior Surface Design Engineer to join the team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role, you will work within a group of highly creative and skilled design engineers to deliver high-quality surface geometry models to aid the aerodynamic development of the team’s race car. We aspire to be the absolute best in every aspect of our team. What you will be doing:
* Deliver high-quality and complex surface geometry models for CFD, Wind Tunnel, and full-size release.
* Work closely with Aerodynamicists to understand the definition and scope of all new surfaces, including modelling and construction approach.
* Liaise with model designers to ensure efficient implementation of aerodynamic projects.
* Support the release of aero surface geometry to the full-size car design office.
* Liaise with full-size car designers to create high-quality surface geometry for full-size release.
* Mentor junior members of the group and support pushing forward methodologies and modelling improvements.
* Support the implementation of standard design practices.
Requirements:
* A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering / Design / Motorsport) or similar.
* Multiple years’ relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the motorsport industry.
* Extensive experience with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
* Strong knowledge and understanding of surface quality, model layout, and robustness.
* High level of understanding of surfacing and parametric modelling techniques.
* Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
* Ability to lead teams effectively.
* Effective communication with key stakeholders/directors.
* Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Contribute positively to an open and inclusive culture.
