Straight Forward Recruitment is delighted to be supporting our client at their Wissington Factory in the recruitment of an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer .
This is an exciting opportunity to join a large-scale, complex industrial operation working within an Autonomous Production Unit (APU) model — a structure that gives teams full ownership of operating, maintaining and improving their designated areas.
The Role Reporting to the Engineering Lead within your APU, you will play a key role in delivering both proactive and reactive electrical and instrumentation maintenance across a vast and technically advanced site.
Key responsibilities include:
Carrying out electrical and instrumentation fault finding, maintenance and repair
Working in partnership with shift and days-based teams to maintain plant performance
Installation of new plant and modification of existing equipment
Maintenance testing and commissioning during planned shutdowns
Ensuring all engineering activities are recorded within the CMMS
Making plant safe for maintenance and working within permit systems
Supporting site quality, environmental and health & safety standards
Contributing to continuous improvement and safety initiatives
You will be trusted to make sound engineering decisions, prioritise workload effectively, and assess when plant should be taken offline to maintain safe and compliant operations.
About You We are seeking a technically strong and safety-focused engineer with experience gained in a large, complex industrial environment.
Essential skills and experience include:
ONC / HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering supported by a recognised apprenticeship
IOSH Working or Managing Safely
Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution systems and motor control centres
Experience with variable speed drives
Instrumentation installation, commissioning and calibration (pressure, temperature, flow, pH, density etc.)
Exposure to high voltage systems, switchgear, transformers and generators
Experience with DCS, SCADA and PLC control systems
Understanding of hazards and controls within a large industrial setting
Experience working within a lean operating environment
