Job Title: Water Treatment Scientist Salary: To £34,000 per annum (depending on experience) standby allowance Location: Cambridge South Staffs Water are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Water Treatment Scientist to join our team and support our commitment to water quality excellence. Reporting to the Water Treatment Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance and optimising treatment processes across our Cambridge Water Production sites. The Role As a Water Treatment Scientist with South Staffs Water, you’ll be part of a team that values innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with Water Quality Regulations and company policies at treatment sites Analyse and interpret water quality and operational data (including SCADA) to optimise plant performance Investigate breaches of standards or poor performance and produce detailed reports Identify risks in treatment controls and propose effective mitigation strategies Provide expert advice on water treatment processes and support investment projects and operations Develop and maintain process documentation, policies, and procedures Support daily activities of the Water Quality department and represent the team in cross-departmental meetings Deliver specialist water quality training to operational staff Conduct reactive risk assessments as required What You’ll Need Degree or HND in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Environmental Science, Microbiology) Experience in drinking water treatment, water quality, or a related field (preferred) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong IT proficiency, including data analysis tools Full, valid UK driving licence Willingness to participate in an “out of hours” standby rota What You’ll Get In Return A competitive salary plus benefits. 25 days holiday bank holidays.
