Job Title: Water Treatment Scientist
Salary: To £34,000 per annum (depending on experience) + standby allowance
Location: Cambridge
South Staffs Water are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Water Treatment Scientist to join our team and support our commitment to water quality excellence. Reporting to the Water Treatment Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance and optimising treatment processes across our Cambridge Water Production sites.

Key Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with Water Quality Regulations and company policies at treatment sites
* Analyse and interpret water quality and operational data (including SCADA) to optimise plant performance
* Investigate breaches of standards or poor performance and produce detailed reports
* Identify risks in treatment controls and propose effective mitigation strategies
* Provide expert advice on water treatment processes and support investment projects and operations
* Develop and maintain process documentation, policies, and procedures
* Support daily activities of the Water Quality department and represent the team in cross-departmental meetings
* Deliver specialist water quality training to operational staff
* Conduct reactive risk assessments as required
What You'll Need:
* Degree or HND in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Environmental Science, Microbiology)
* Experience in drinking water treatment, water quality, or a related field (preferred)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong IT proficiency, including data analysis tools
* Full, valid UK driving licence
* Willingness to participate in an "out of hours" standby rota
