Product and Supplier Quality Technologist

Our client, a multi-national manufacturer and product distributor, is looking for a Product and Supplier Quality Technologist for their site based in Manchester, with the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis dependent on needs of the business. This exciting opportunity, which involves both UK and overseas travel, will involve working as part of a wider European team in the day to day running of the company Quality System.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:
* Managing the product inspection schedule, undertaking full quality assessments of pre-shipment samples, including implementation and follow up of any action required.
* Management of the supplier approval system through risk assessments and visiting / auditing both UK based and Global suppliers.
* Submission of compliance data, ensuring it is supplied in an accurate and timely manner.
* Reviewing product artwork
* Dealing with enquiries - responding to requests for product or supplier information. These requests may originate internally from colleagues or externally (e.g. consumers, retailers, shipping agents).
* Communication and liaison with approved co-packers, issuing and agreeing instructions in the form of specifications and samples, management of label supply.
Essential / Desirable skills include:
* Good knowledge of food safety, HACCP and GFSI recognised standards.
* Competent in MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.
* A confident communicator, capable of building relationships with internal and external teams. Experience of managing supplier relationships would be an advantage
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Conscientious with excellent time management skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* Flexible to travel within UK and internationally.
* Team player - confident, friendly and personable.
* Ideally a Batchelor’s degree in food science related subject or demonstrated experience in the food industry working with cross functional departments and with 3rd party manufacturers.
* Ideally candidates will have prior experience of internal and external auditing, experience of working with major retailers, and specifications experience.

The working hours for the role are 37.5 hours Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm. Hybrid working will be possible dependent on the needs of the business. The salary is up to £33k per annum plus benefits package. Own transport and a willingness to travel both in the UK and overseas will be required.
