Executive Officer
Location: Sheffield, Vulcan House Steel, Croydon Ruskin Square
Hybrid 60% office 40% remote. Full‑time attendance is required for the duration of training. (Hybrid working can only be permitted once approved by the manager and when they are satisfied that the candidate is ready to do so).
Pay: £15.53 per hour
Working Days/Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 9 am – 5 pm. Flexi as long as they complete 7.24 hours and are logged on core times 10 am – 3 pm.
Brook Street in partnership with the Home Office has a fantastic opportunity to join their team as an Executive Officer.
List the duties of the role
* Assess the data held on Home Office systems and paper records under the DPA 2018 and decide whether to disclose or apply restrictions; justifying any restrictions made.
* Act in a timely manner on any requests/tasks to respond to Subject Access Requests, ensuring the 30‑day target is met. Personal targets will be set during training and once officers are signed off to work independently.
* Work within a team of over 90 Caseworkers based across the Sheffield and Croydon estates, communicating effectively with internal stakeholders and customers both in person and remotely.
* Adhere to legal policies and procedures set by the GDPR and the Unit.
* Escalate policy or procedural issues or complexities to SARU's Internal Compliance Team promptly.
* Prioritise weekly caseload allocation to address urgent cases from Pre Action Protocols (PAPs), Information Commissioners Office (ICO) complaints, and cases nearing the target. Additional case‑working tasks may be required.
* Accept and act on feedback and guidance from Quality Checkers and managers, undertaking refresher training when necessary.
* Develop awareness of and participate willingly in SARU's Transformation agenda.
* Play an active role in team meetings, both in person and remotely, working well with others in the Casework Team and wider SARU to achieve target goals.
Training
No annual leave during the training period – 4–6 weeks.
Clearance level (to be applied for by Brook Street upon a successful application)
CTC + Basic DBS
Role specific requirements
You must hold a valid passport and have lived in the UK for longer than three years. A period of six months or longer spent outside the UK in the last three years will unfortunately not be accepted. This role requires security clearance that will be processed for you if successful.
