Location: Leeds (Hybrid working – only 1 day per week required in office)

We are working exclusively with a well‑established and rapidly growing building safety consultancy to source a senior Building Regulations Principal Designer to join their expanding team. This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist division at a pivotal moment in the industry, and one of the most in‑demand roles in the built environment right now.
The Business
Our client sits within a wider group of around (Apply online only) professionals, operating across multiple UK offices with a strong and growing presence in Yorkshire and Manchester. Their building safety division, currently 11 strong and targeting 15 by year end, delivers end‑to‑end BRPD, CDM Principal Designer, Higher‑Risk Building (HRB) consultancy, and Building Safety Act advisory services across a broad client base that includes architectural practices, developers, and principal contractors on design‑and‑build schemes.
The Role
In this role you will take on statutory BRPD appointments across a varied project portfolio, from standard building regulations work on residential and commercial schemes through to complex Higher‑Risk Building projects requiring full Gateway 2 and 3 management. You will coordinate design team compliance, lead building regulations reviews across RIBA stages, prepare compliance documentation, and engage with relevant authorities.
What They’re Looking For
A background in architecture or architectural technology
Senior‑level experience with a proven track record on relevant project types; competency assessed on the basis of practical experience, not qualifications alone
Familiarity with the Gateway process for HRBs is highly desirable
Registrations such as the RIBA PD Register (for architects), APS register, or CIAT (for technologists) are desirable; the business actively supports staff in obtaining these
The Package
Base salary up to £50,000 – £60,000 depending on experience
Generous incentive scheme
Highly flexible hybrid working: one day per week in the office (Wednesday team day) as a preference, with fully remote arrangements considered on a case‑by‑case basis
Geography is flexible; the team already spans from Yorkshire to Kent, and Manchester‑based candidates are very much in scope
A dedicated and well‑funded CPD and training budget, with active support onto professional registers
