Food/DT Technician (Temporary) – Secondary School in Chorley

Hours: Full-time (Monday to Friday)
We are seeking a practical, organised, and enthusiastic Food/Design Technology Technician to join our supportive secondary school team in Chorley for the autumn term.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in food preparation, design technology, or school technician support to play a key role in the smooth running of our DT and Food Technology departments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare materials, ingredients, tools, and equipment for Food and DT lessons.
* Maintain and organise stock, ensuring safety and hygiene standards are upheld.
* Support teachers during practical lessons and assist with classroom demonstrations when required.
* Carry out routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and workspaces.
* Monitor and manage the safe storage and disposal of materials and ingredients.
* Assist with administrative tasks such as ordering supplies and maintaining inventories.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience in a similar technician or classroom support role (school experience preferred but not essential).
* Basic knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety procedures.
* Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
* A hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A commitment to supporting student learning in a practical environment.
An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is essential.
