We’re supporting a growing defence engineering organisation delivering complex, mission-critical infrastructure and systems across the UK and internationally. Due to increased programme demand, they’re looking to appoint a Supply Chain Lead with a construction background to take ownership of subcontractor performance, procurement strategy, and programme delivery support.
This role sits at the heart of project delivery, moving beyond transactional buying into managing subcontract packages, driving commercial outcomes, and ensuring materials and services are delivered in line with construction programme requirements.
What you’ll be doing
* Leading supply chain and subcontractor management across construction-led programmes, ensuring delivery, cost, and quality targets are met
* Managing end-to-end procurement of subcontract packages (e.g. civils, MEP, specialist works), including tendering, negotiation, and contract award
* Identifying, onboarding, and managing construction and engineering subcontractors and suppliers
* Building strong supplier and subcontractor relationships, driving performance and resolving site/project issues
* Monitoring supply chain risks across projects (e.g. delays, contractor performance, material availability) and implementing mitigation strategies
* Supporting project planning, scheduling, and materials coordination aligned to construction delivery phases
* Working closely with project managers, commercial teams, and engineers to align supply chain activity with programme and site requirements
What we’re looking for
* Essential: Proven supply chain / procurement experience within a construction or infrastructure environment
* Good understanding of construction contracts (e.g. NEC, JCT) and commercial frameworks
* Experience within a supply chain, procurement, or subcontract management role
* Strong background in supplier negotiation and relationship management
* Understanding of supply chain operations within engineering, manufacturing, or defence environments
* Ability to contribute to bids, proposals, or programme planning activities
* Commercial awareness with an understanding of contracts and supplier agreements
* Confident stakeholder management across site, commercial, and engineering teams
