We’re looking for a skilled, motivated Planning Policy and Land Charges Team Manager to lead our talented team at a pivotal moment. With our Local Plan review heading for submission in 2026 and adoption in 2027, you’ll play a central role in shaping how our communities evolve — balancing growth, sustainability, and great place-making.
What you’ll be doing
1. Lead and inspire the Planning Policy and Land Charges team.
2. Drive the Local Plan through submission, examination, and adoption.
3. Oversee Section 106 monitoring — ensuring contributions are secured and delivered.
4. Support and guide the high-performing Land Charges service.
5. Advise and collaborate with Members, senior officers, and regional partners.
6. Represent the council at committees, hearings, and examinations.
What we’re looking for
You’ll combine technical expertise with political awareness — comfortable leading projects that are both complex and high-profile.
✅ Experience preparing and delivering Local Plans (ideally through examination).
✅ Degree in Town and Country Planning (or equivalent) and RTPI membership (or eligibility).
✅ Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
✅ A calm, pragmatic approach and the ability to motivate others.
