Head of HV Substations, Electrical Design

We are seeking the top person for this Substation Design leadership role. It will be the most senior person for substation design in a significant design and build group in the UK.
The right person will be an expert in;
Substations electrical design within the energy sector, and able to lead and grow a team.
Be a qualified senior Electrical engineer with degree, and likely Chartered.
Skilled in recruiting and leading HV plant design engineers, and developing their skills
Provide technical oversight for electrical HV substations design

Summary
The Head of Substation design is responsible for leading the primary plant HV design team and overseeing customer design projects 33kv to 400Kv. This involves group authority for Primary Plant design of T&D projects in the UK. The role can be home or office based in the UK.
Responsibilities;
• Act as the technical authority and mentor and coach junior and senior design team members.
• Deliver Transmission and Distribution level substation primary plant design projects to targeted levels of quality, timeliness and profitability to DNO and NGET standards.
• Deliver detailed Substation plant design, layouts, plant specifications, short-circuit calculations, cable system design calculations, ancillary equipment selection and specification.
• Be responsible for the design liability and risks in relation to design change, compensation events, safe operability and adherence to industry standards.
• Oversee and lead the team on all primary plant design including transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear, Busbar and GIB, GIS cable termination through to MV AIS terminations, and other substation ancillary equipment at all voltages up to 400kV
