Overview
The prison is based in Warrington, Cheshire and is a Male Category C prison. As a Mental Health Nurse, you will provide a holistic package of care to patients within the prison system, working with the team to develop and maintain delivery of high quality, individualised, evidence-based patient-centred nursing care. You will manage the assessment of health needs, planning, delivery and evaluation of care for the prison population, including clinical risk assessment. This is an exciting and dynamic role for the post holders who will be looking to expand their knowledge in health and justice services. Responsibilities
* Triaging the mental health needs of new arrivals/transfers and those currently in custody.
* Providing advice on health and harm reduction recovery issues to individuals with substance and/or mental health needs.
* Safely promoting the general health needs of service users with drug misuse issues and referring on to Health Care when required.
* Completing mental health assessments.
* Providing a range of therapeutic interventions to service users with both primary care and secondary mental health care needs.
* Carrying out safe, accurate, comprehensive clinical assessments of treatment needs in collaboration with lead medical staff and other healthcare staff.
* Carrying out appropriate clinical and prison ACCT risk assessments regarding drug treatment and mental health issues, and implementing interventions to manage risks.
* Making recommendations and identifying service users’/patients’ treatment needs in developing their integrated care plan.
* Safely and effectively managing treatment plans for patients.

Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
* Desire to develop skills in a unique and evolving environment and a passion for learning and development, with initiative to bring new ideas to improve healthcare services.
