Job Summary
Under close supervision, the Technician I may be responsible for assembly, forming, finishing, material removal, inspection, rework, and repair of assembly components and parts, per customer specifications. Responsibilities include maintenance of machine tools, hydraulic systems, CNC equipment, vacuum and electrical systems, operation of machines, hand and power tools, gauges, and measuring instruments, fabrication of temporary tooling, and first-level maintenance.
This is a WEEKEND NIGHT SHIFT: Friday-Sunday 4:00 PM - 4:00 AM
Job Responsibilities
* Identify and evaluate patterns; determine methods to remove material to meet customer specifications; remove material by tank media.
* Prepare parts for the tank by painting, patching, and removing maskant for etching. Use tools like X-acto knife and scale for pattern layout.
* Drill, assemble rivets and brackets on segments and rings, trim, and touch up paint.
* Deburr and form parts using expanders, hot dye presses, and rolls.
* Mask parts as required with tape, mask first cut parts, and strip boards.
* Strip flanges with a knife, load parts using a crane, and run laser programs.
* Maintain records related to periodic maintenance and order spare parts as needed.
* Maintain a clean work environment, including storage and cleaning duties, in compliance with standards and regulations.
* Support the development of a business culture aligned with company objectives, focusing on cost, quality, process, schedule, and people.
* Ensure safety and environmental policies are followed, complying with government regulations.
* Adhere to GKN Aerospace's policies regarding contracting with the US Government.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED
* At least 1 year of experience with hand tools and measuring tools
* At least 1 year of experience reading blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
* Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder due to security clearance requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
* GKN experience
* Experience working with hazardous materials or chemicals
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Knowledge in troubleshooting, safety, quality, and technical issues
* Willingness to work in a repetitive production environment with focus on cost, quality, and schedule
