An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Individual to develop their dental nursing career within our Emergency Dental Service.
We are looking for a person who enjoys urgent dental care/the unexpected elements of dentistry but will take satisfaction from the less routine side of dentistry. An honest person, who cares about their work & their team members.
Overview of Role:
* £17.32 per hour with enhancements for weekends and bank holiday shifts.
* Maternity cover (Nov 25-June 26 - Bank/Zero Hours contract, flexible rotas, most nurses alongside other employment. Looking for approx. 1/2 shifts per week, and able to cover occasionally at short notice.
* Shift patterns (may vary):
o Monday to Friday: 5.45pm to 9.00pm
o Saturday/Sunday & BH: 1.15pm to 5pm
* The Service aims to provide patients with treatment to relieve pain, swellings, and the management of Injuries/Traumas. Caring and Compassionate personality is extremely important. Confident dental nurse able to work as a team in a busy, and sometimes unpredictable environment.
* To work across both site at Barbara Castle Way Health Centre, Blackburn & St Peter Centre, Burnley.
The Service:
We are commissioned by Lancashire and South Cumbria, Integrated Care Board to provide NHS urgent and emergency dental care 365 days, at multiple sites across Lancashire. We believe in making a difference, and pride ourselves on delivering high quality patient care. We currently have services operating in Blackpool, Morecambe, Blackburn and Burnley. We operate out of hours, evenings, weekends & bank holidays 365 days per year.
Day to Day Duties to include, but not exhausted:
* To perform high quality dental nursing in a safe and effective manner alongside the dentist, within the scope of practice of a dental nurse.
* Confident and competent dental nurse with working in a busy, and sometimes unpredictable environment.
* Good organisational and time management skills here is invaluable.
* Being able to think on your feet but remaining polite and professional is essential, there are sometimes difficult situations that may arise where you may need to take the lead. Adaptability is essential.
* Confident in working with variety of different staff, it wont always be the same team members your rostered with.
* Ability to calm and reassure nervous and anxious patients a large portion of our service users havent seen a dentist in a long time and usually come to us as a last resort.
* Its essential you are able to work within a team and be a trustworthy member.
* High standard of infection control and be up to date with HTM01-05.
* To establish and maintain productive working relationships with all members of the dental team, supporting & helping one another.
* Contribute with suggestions and ideas to make improvements in quality and outcomes for patients.
* Assist with any reasonable duties requested.

Health and Safety/Security
