Offer description

Overview

Make a difference – Children’s Social Work in Cornwall. We are looking for a Social Worker to join the Gweres Tus Yowynk (GTY - Helping Young People) service. Our specialist multi-agency adolescent service supports young people in staying at home and/or with their extended family. The team comprises Social Workers, Targeted Youth Workers, Youth Justice Service Officers, and Functional Family Therapists. You will engage in a range of statutory social work, conduct social work assessments, and manage a caseload. The role involves delivering high-quality interventions and intensive support, often to families near crisis, to prevent family breakdown and enable young people to stay within their family or wider network where appropriate. This role is focused on improving outcomes for children and adolescents through multi-agency collaboration.

We value humane, relationship-based practice centered on the child’s lived experience. This is a public/customer-facing role with the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers. The position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

For more information about social work careers in Cornwall, see the Work in Adults or Children’s Social Care pages on Cornwall Council.

* Knowledge and understanding of the legislation, models and theories relevant to children’s social work, with evidence of applying learning to practice

If your experience is in another sector (e.g., Adult Social Care or the Voluntary sector), Cornwall Council provides a supported induction period to transition into children and families social work.
