Overview
The post holder will work closely with the Lead EPMA Pharmacist, Pharmacy IT Systems Manager, CCIO for Pharmacy and Medicines and the Digital Critical Care Project team to help implement a Critical Care Electronic Patient Record System at the Walton Centre Hospital Site. They will coordinate the configuration of the prescribing drug file, working with Walton and LUHFT critical care teams to ensure the system meets the needs of the critical care unit and provides a safe and effective prescribing solution. They will implement governance for the system, including development of guidelines and standard operating procedures, training and documentation for pharmacy staff, and liaison between software/hardware suppliers and LUHFT IT teams.
Responsibilities
* Routine maintenance and support of pharmacy IT systems in liaison with suppliers and LUHFT IT teams and designated pharmacy staff
* Maintenance of data quality and data reporting for pharmacy IT systems, including Stock Control and Electronic Prescribing & Medicines Administration systems
* Development and delivery of training plans and materials for pharmacy IT systems
* Leadership, coordination and participation in developments of pharmacy IT systems as determined by pharmacy and hospital needs
* Assist with management of all aspects of pharmacy IT systems with liaison with system suppliers and LUHFT Pharmacy and IM&T staff
* Assist in project management of upgrades of the electronic prescribing system; ensure software functions are tested before go-live and advise on impacts within the department
* Manage electronic prescribing files and parameters, continually auditing data integrity
* Assist with the design and maintenance of SOPs and training materials to ensure pharmacy staff can operate Pharmacy IT systems correctly
* Deliver training to Pharmacy staff in the use of Pharmacy IT systems
* Provide out-of-hours support for Pharmacy IT systems where appropriate
* Support the Lead Pharmacist for Electronic Prescribing and Pharmacy IT systems management
* Develop reporting solutions to support Departmental and Trust objectives
* Assist with the development of Pharmacy automation where appropriate
* Undertake dispensing and Final Dispensing Checking duties as required to maintain competence and support rotas (specific to Pharmacy Technician in post)
Qualifications
* Essential criteria: QCF Level 3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) with underpinning knowledge
* BTEC Level 4 Professional Diploma in Dispensing Checking (or equivalent)
* Registration with General Pharmaceutical Society

Notes: This role is a fixed-term, part-time position (22.5 hours per week) until 12 months, for implementation support of a new critical care EPR system. Closing date: 18/09/2025 23:59.
