Senior Scientist: in-vitro Pharmacology
Excellerate Bioscience Ltd are currently seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong in-vitro pharmacology background to join our molecular and cellular pharmacology team. We offer a dynamic team environment, working in partnership with our clients to provide flexible solutions from early-stage target identification to late stage detailed mechanism of action studies, across a wide range of different drug target classes and disease areas.
Role and Responsibilities:
This is a role for individuals who have experience in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology gained through a PhD, or BSc / MSc with 3+ years' experience in industry. As a Senior Scientist you will work as part of the in-vitro pharmacology team providing scientific expertise in the characterisation of drug molecules to support clients' drug discovery programs. You will operate with a high level of independence in developing and conducting in-vitro biochemical and cell-based assays using recognized approaches, methodologies and techniques.
You will work in a collaborative environment, providing intricate data that will help accelerate our clients drug discovery programmes. You will be able to project manage and conduct / supervise experiments to the highest quality and have excellent analytical and communication skills. You will have a role in the supervision and training junior scientists in assay development and pharmacology methods for complex and technically demanding assays.
You will also have the opportunity to pursue your own personal research interests aligned to company strategy, resulting in peer-reviewed publications and presentations at external scientific meetings.
Skills and Experience:
* A PhD or BSc / MSc with 3+ years' industry experience – focused around Cellular/Receptor/Enzyme Pharmacology (Essential).
* Familiarity with quantitative cell-based, receptor & biochemical assays with experience in in-vitro pharmacological assay development
* Working knowledge of methodologies such as binding assays (FRET, BRET), reporter assays, Imaging techniques, western blotting, flow cytometer and experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques
* Practical experience in working with G-protein coupled receptors, cellular signalling methodologies, protein-protein interactions or working with PROTAC / molecular glues would be advantageous.
* A strong ability to problem-solve and take the lead on driving projects when required
* Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills
* Knowledge of semi-automated liquid handling systems is desirable
* Prior project leadership or people management experience would be advantageous.
