Role description
Deliver digital cost management services working on complex projects and programmes and with major infrastructure clients. Combine traditional QS expertise with modern digital practices, including 5D BIM and process automation. Integrate cost/commercial data into PMO processes to enable evidence-based decisions. Opportunities include embedded project roles or short-term consultancy work delivering process improvement initiative QS.
Role accountabilities
* Cost Management: Prepare and control budgets, cost plans, estimates, cashflows, and change control.
* Tendering & Procurement: Manage tendering, bid evaluations, negotiations, and contract administration.
* Measurement & Valuation (5D BIM): Deliver model-based quantification and valuation; collaborate with design teams for accurate take-offs.
* PMO Integration: Embed cost/commercial data into PMO dashboards and stage-gate packs; maintain KPIs and reporting cadences.
* Data & Reporting: Build BI dashboards (Power BI), use advanced Excel; reconcile data across finance, procurement, and design systems.
* Digital Process Improvement: Map and optimise workflows; deploy low-code apps (Power Apps/Automate) for automation.
* Collaboration & Leadership: Work with PMO, project managers, and finance; mentor junior team members.
* Sustainability: Support cost–carbon analysis and whole-life cost trade-offs.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial/Construction Management, or related field.
* 3–5 years’ cost management experience in construction/infrastructure sectors.
* NEC4 experience.
* Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
* Curious and solutions-focused, with strong ownership, adaptability, and commitment to collaboration and data ethics.
Desirable
* Formal training and qualifications in NEC4.
* MRICS (preferred) or working towards.
* Digital proficiency: 5D BIM, Power BI, Advanced Excel; Power Apps/Automate.
* Experience with cost and commercial software and PMO integration / collaboration tools (e.g. Cemar, Asite, Contruent/PRISM, SharePoint).
* Knowledge or experience in scripting/automation for data analysis and information modelling (e.g. Python, DAX/M, R, SQL or VBA).
