Kontron is hiring an experienced embedded software developer to join our software engineering team based in Wiltshire, UK. As a member of the engineering team, you will have the opportunity to work on an interesting variety of projects – from internal product development of new Kontron cutting-edge products to consultancy projects for external customers.
Description
Our group is a subsidiary of Kontron, a world leader in embedded computing and IoT technology with more than 7,000 employees and €2B revenue. This combines the benefits of both worlds – our local UK company has a 40-year history but is still small enough to have many of the qualities of a start-up – an inclusive, collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. Being part of the Kontron group brings the backing of an established world-renowned company giving wider opportunities, vastly increased market reach and capabilities to deliver complete hardware and software solutions.
Are you an early adopter? Passionate about new technology? So are we! We are seeking a talented software developer to join our team in Wiltshire, in the UK. As a member of the development team, you will have the opportunity to be a key part of the group creating cutting-edge software systems that solve real-world problems and deliver value to our customers. We look for enthusiastic people with ideas and initiative, combined with strong technical skills. If you’re an engineer looking for a career designing and building innovative solutions in a friendly and supportive working environment of top-class software developers, this could be for you!
This is a full-time salary position that comes with a competitive salary, and a benefit package including pension and health insurance. We have a flexible remote work policy so you can work where it is most effective. In addition to the standard holidays, we offer a day of Civic Engagement Leave and encourage team members to engage in activities that matter to them in their communities.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to design software for future embedded systems, both Kontron products in several industries and projects directly for end customers
* Working with cutting-edge technology to build innovative and secure embedded and connected devices
* Development of high-quality software as part of our UK team in Wiltshire
* We place great importance on innovation and the incorporation of new technologies and ideas into our work. You will be encouraged to propose creative solutions and explore new technologies and ways of working to continue improving what we produce.
Qualifications
* You are an experienced software developer with knowledge of working on embedded devices
* You are a graduate in an appropriate technical subject (Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics etc.) with several years of hands-on industry experience
* Knowledge of C/C++ and Python or other scripting languages
* Experience working in Linux is preferred but we are also interested in QNX, RTOS or embedded Windows experience too
* Experience of BSP and device driver / systems software development
* Practical knowledge of cybersecurity considerations and techniques for developing secure connected systems
* IoT projects often involve several tech stacks - device-side systems software, cloud back-end systems, cloud provisioning tools, front-end web UI etc. Any familiarity with other technologies such as these is often helpful, but not essential for this role
* You are a clear communicator, able to discuss and describe technical topics with Kontron colleagues and customers with varying depths of technical skills
We have some flexibility in the qualifications – we are looking for talented, motivated individuals interested in embedded systems rather than a specific set of skills, so feel free to apply if you match some of these but not all.
