Overview
Band 6 Children's Haemoglobinopathy Nurse. Main area: Women7s and Children. Contract: Permanent. Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Site: Tropical Bay Town Romford. Salary: £45,953 - £54,254 per annum inclusive of HCA. Closing date: 20/05/2026 23:59.
Purpose of the role is to support the haemoglobinopathy service, including automated red cell exchange transfusion, and to contribute to care for children with red cell conditions in a day care setting.
Main duties of the job
* Contribute to an on-call red cell exchange programme
* Work with the team and be proficient in automated red cell exchanges
* Accept patient referrals to agreed criteria and be identified as the key worker for an agreed patient/client caseload
* Provide advice, education and support to patients, their carers and other health care professionals
* Practice clinically in agreed care settings according to approved protocols or guidance

Person specification
Education / Qualifications
* RN Child or RSCN
* Teaching and Assessing in clinical areas (ENB998 or equivalent Haemoglobinopathy course: ENB N08)
Experience / Knowledge
* Working with and/or caring for individuals with sickle cell and thalassaemia
* Transfusion exchange or a willingness to learn
* Setting up and running nurse-led clinics
Skills / Abilities
* Excellent cannulation and venepuncture skills
