Nicor Construction is a leading response maintenance contractor specializing in delivering high-quality maintenance services to social housing providers and health trusts across Northern Ireland. The Role We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our procurement team to support our growing portfolio of response maintenance contracts across Northern Ireland. This role is crucial in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services needed to maintain our high standards of service delivery to social housing tenants and healthcare facilities. Key Responsibilities Procurement Management Source, negotiate and purchase materials, equipment, and services required for response maintenance operations Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and specialist service providers Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve best value while maintaining quality standards Process purchase orders and ensure accurate record-keeping in procurement systems Supply Chain Coordination Coordinate with site teams and project managers to understand material requirements and delivery schedules Manage stock levels and implement just-in-time delivery strategies where appropriate Monitor supplier performance and address any quality or delivery issues promptly Ensure materials comply with relevant building regulations and client specifications Cost Control & Reporting Monitor and control expenditure against budgets for multiple maintenance contracts Provide regular cost reports and procurement analytics to management Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or service delivery Maintain accurate records for audit purposes and contract compliance Compliance & Standards Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction industry standards and regulations Ensure suppliers hold appropriate certifications, insurance, and health & safety documentation Support sustainability initiatives and social value commitments within the supply chain Essential Requirements Experience & Knowledge Minimum 5 years' experience in a buying or procurement role, preferably within construction or maintenance sectors Demonstrated experience in negotiating with suppliers and managing supplier relationships Understanding of response maintenance requirements and social housing sector priorities Knowledge of construction materials, building components, and maintenance supplies Skills & Competencies Strong negotiation and commercial awareness skills Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite Strong analytical skills with attention to detail Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities Qualifications CIPS qualification (desirable but not essential) Full UK driving license Right to work in the UK Desirable Criteria Experience working with social housing providers or health trusts in Northern Ireland Knowledge of public sector procurement requirements Experience with framework agreements and measured term contracts Skills: Procurement Cost Management Supply Chain Management Excellent communication skills
