The Green Recruitment Company is happy to be working with a leading global engineering consultancy. They are looking to add to the team with a Technical Director, the successful candidate can be based out of London, Manchester or Newcastle. This role with take responsibility for leading the Electrical / Design Engineering team for battery storage projects as part of the new "new energies" division. The role will take ownership of the vertical, onboarding new clients, having P&L responsibility and the management of the engineering team.
Functions:
* Liaise with clients, build new and maintaining existing client relationships with Power clients.
* Concept and detailed design (layouts, SLDs, comms block diagrams, P&IDs, functional descriptions, operating philosophies )
* Feasibility Studies and capital estimates
* Bidding docs such as Tech Specs, Scope of works, tender returnable schedules, tender evaluation and recommendations
* Key equipment vendor selection
* Techno-economic modelling and optimization/sizing studies for microgrids/hybrid systems (i.e. solar, wind, BESS installed capacity based on site and network constraints,
* Coordinate the electrical infrastructure with other infrastructure in multidiscipline projects.
* Assist overall team members with projects and Quality reviews.
* Deliver innovative and robust technical solutions to projects, appropriately involving the power Service Line Leaders/Coordinators. Condition site inspections of energy storage assets during and at the completion of projects (including ITP/ITR creation and population during FAT/SAT).

* Ensure work produced is of a suitable quality and delivered to plan.
* Ensure the timely delivery of services within budget.
* Seek out Business Development and market opportunities, on a regular basis (nominally weekly), to build a continual pipeline of work for the team and the Region. Target 10% of hours to BD.
* Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, Project Directors and Job Managers.
* Check in on and provide constructive and positive feedback to own project team members on a regular basis. Contribute to the safety of people within the project team within scope of engineering/PM responsibilities.

* Provide technical leadership to the group/team and overview of the quality of own project outcomes’
* Apply high level technical knowledge in the delivery of projects for our client
* Maintain up-to-date information systems (e.g. proposals and opportunities pipeline, etc.) for owned opportunities
* For own opportunities, complete and update reports (including prospects list) relating to project development to ensure information is readily available to management.
* Identify and contribute to managing risks and opportunities within the team. Contribute to the Quality, HSE, IMS compliance standards and promote continuous improvement in our systems and processes
Qualifications:
* Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Project Management (highly regarded)
* Chartered or actively working towards obtainment Minimum 5 years industry experience (consulting environment preferable)
